Travelling over the years I have found that there are so many products that can last for a long time in the environment, long after you have left a place. The following products may not work for everyone, but I have found these are some simple ways to lower your footprint.
- Eco Friendly Toiletries
Purchase organic shampoos, conditioners, deodorants and sunscreens. Ethique is a great brand that is focused on zero waste, plastic and cruelty free, with its goal of preventing 10 million plastic bottles from entering the environment
- Bamboo Toothbrush
It never really occurred to me about a toothbrush having a big impact but making the simple swap to a bamboo toothbrush ensures that you can safely know it won’t be adding to the pile of plastic already abounding across the world.
- Reusable cutlery
Instead of taking the disposable cutlery or straws when ordering your food, pack your own reusable cutlery. Metal straws are very popular and also pack your own fork and knife, take it out of your bag and it’s ready to use.
- Keep Cup & Water Bottle
Coffee and Water are essentials when travelling. There are so many coffee cups and drink bottles that can be purchased these days to avoid using plastic. I have been using an insulated water bottle that you can buy from Kmart and minimum cost. It will keep your water cold for up to 12hrs. My favourite reusable coffee cup is a frank green cup, they’re fully sealed and can be thrown in your bag without spilling everywhere….they also have an insulated cup to keep your coffee hot for longer.
